What is 5-axis simultaneous measurement?
The technology of 5 simultaneous axes increases the measurement speed by 3 times of the three-dimensional machine.
In addition to the 3 translation axes of coordinate measuring machines, 2 rotation axes can be added to the head.
These two additional axes can be used solely to orient the probe, as in the case of the PH10 head.
PH20 head
However, the PH20 head of Renishaw provides the ability to obtain measurement points.
And along with the software TouchDMIS They promote a easy and intuitive programming as you can see below:
Advantages of using the PH20 head
1. Higher speed
By eliminating the inertia of the probing process: thanks to the 2 additional axes provided by the PH20 head, only the head with the probe and feeler move, leaving the machine gantry completely static.
2. Time saving
Reduces the time spent indexing the head.
3. Increase in production
Up to three times greater than conventional systems.
4. Reduces calibration time
Since the PH20 system determines the head orientation and probe position in a single operation, this allows subsequent measurements to be made at any angle of the head.
5. Ability to position the PH20 head at any tilt angle
Instead of every 7.5º to which the PH10 is limited.
PH20 vs PH10 comparison
Below is the comparison between using a PH10 or a PH20 on the same three-dimensional machine:
PH10 Features
- Measuring range: 0.0 to 14.0 pH
- Precision: ±0.2 pH
- Resolution: 0.1 pH
- Calibration: Two points with calibration button
- Additional features: Data hold function, auto power off after 8 minutes of inactivity, waterproof design allows the device to float in water.
PH20 Features
- Measuring range: 0.0 to 14.0 pH
- Precision: ±0.1 pH
- Resolution: 0.1 pH
- Calibration: Two points with calibration button
- Additional features: Data hold function, auto power off after 8 minutes of inactivity, waterproof design allows the device to float in water.
In conclusion, although both models share many features, the PH20 offers greater accuracy in pH measurement.
If accuracy is crucial to your application, the PH20 would be the most suitable choice.
For general uses where an accuracy of ±0.2 pH is sufficient, the PH10 may be a more cost effective alternative.
How to incorporate 5-axis technology in three-dimensional
Not all three-dimensional measuring machines are prepared for this technology. At Téciman we can perform the retrofit or update suitable for incorporating the 5 axes into the machine with complete guarantee.
Ours machines COORD3 They come ready to incorporate 5-axis measurement as standard and with the added advantage of software TouchDMIS.
Ideal combination: PH20 and TouchDMIS
The TouchDMIS software is fully aligned with 5-axis simultaneous technology, and specifically with the PH20 head, providing simple programming and excellent results.
Below is a detailed demonstration of the integration and use of the PH20 head with TouchDMIS:
